We are a co-operatively owned and run farm with an aspiration to see the countryside and farming welcoming and accessible to people from diverse backgrounds.
At Berry farm we believe that tasty, nutritional food should be available to all, alongside access to nature and open space. We have run various projects over the years to enable communities to access the beautiful space that is Berry farm and its produce.

The National Lottery Community Fund supports our current project Connecting Community, Nature and Food. We grow fruit & veg for three food poverty projects in the area, Halesworth Community larder, Bungay Community hub and Beccles Primary Academy free shop; all reaching out to those who are socially isolated or in food poverty.
As part of the project, we are running volunteer days on the 3rd Tuesday of the month throughout the growing season so that local people can help grow the food for these projects and enjoy being on the farm.

We also run five open days each year for families from Beccles Primary Academy. We hire a minibus so families can get to the farm as sadly there is no public transport to the village. A typical family day will include a tour of the farm picking fruit & veg, meeting the cattle, sowing seeds, pond dipping, crafts and woodland games.
In the past we have worked with The Country Trust and hosted visits for London schools on residential trips at the nearby Ringsfield Hall. Since the hall closed the residentials had to move elsewhere & we have been unable to run any school events. However, if we are successful in our application to DEFRA for education visits, we intend to offer school visits in 2026. We will be able to run up to 25 visits a year, partnering with The Country Trust to ensure we reach the most nature-deprived communities.
